The permanent exhibition with spectacular finds, displays and media stations invites the whole family on an exciting 400 square-metre-tour. The exhibition presents over a thousand individual artefacts from prehistoric and early historical times in 13 themed blocks. On display are mainly artefacts from north-eastern Lower Franconia.
The centrepiece of this area is the "Grabfeld", an early Frankish landscape. This ancient East Franconian region once extended beyond the Rhön to the Thuringian Forest and the Rhine. Its inhabitants were first mentioned as "Graffelti" in a letter from Pope Gregory III in 739.
An accompanying book entitled "Bad Königshofen - Über Grenzen" provides an insight into the exhibition.
