web-experience

The previous temporary exhibition "The World of Celtic Imagery", which was shown at the kelten römer museum manching (a branch museum of the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection) in 2018-19, is now also available as a virtual web experience! As part of their "Virtual Reality Project Management" course, six students from the University of Darmstadt developed a kind of “virtual exhibition” in cooperation with the agency videoreality and the State Archaeological Collection. In this web experience, users are transported into the mysterious world of the Celts - and thus into the so-called Latène culture, which characterised the cultural and artistic heritage of Central Europe in the 5th to 1st century BC.

The virtual exhibition highlights the unique ornamentation and styles that emerged from Etruscan, Greek and Scythian influences and shows the impressive figurative representations, animal creatures and mythical motifs which predominated in the Latène culture. The interactive approach gives users an insight into the many facets of Celtic art and lifestyle, their religious-mythical approaches and the multi-layered symbolism of their art.

The experience is a cooperation between the Bavarian State Archaeological Collection, Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences and the Frankfurt virtual reality agency videoreality, and was created between November 2023 and February 2024.
