As the central state museum for Bavarian archaeology, our collection includes important finds from around 250,000 years of human history. We would like to present the most important of these to you - and take you on a fascinating journey back into the past. We get to the bottom of the origins of humanity and span the arc from Bavaria's past to the present. More precisely: from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Ages through the Roman period and the Middle Ages to modern times. Where and how did prehistoric people leave their marks? What are the oldest works of art of humankind?
What made the Celts so powerful? What luxuries did the Romans enjoy? How did rituals change over time and how did early gold coins relate to the rainbow? All this and much more is answered in the new permanent galleries. We want to amaze you by providing insights into the history of people and the traces of their settlement in Bavaria over the millennia.
We have the stories - discover them!
